Can Your Carpet Make You Sick?

Hello friends and clients,

Keep reading to discover very important information about your indoor air quality.

Even if you don't suffer from allergies you will benefit from this information.  If you do suffer from allergies I don't have to describe the symptoms.  You are very familiar with some of these: itchy, stuffy nose, nasal discharge, itchy, watery, swollen, bloodshot eyes, sneezing, scratchy, swollen throat, coughing, wheezing, and tightness in the chest.

Maybe you think of your home as a place where you can escape outdoor allergens and get some relief.  Unfortunately, your home harbors its own allergens, making them impossible to avoid.

WHAT ARE THOSE ALLERGENS THAT MAKE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE SO SICK EVERY YEAR?

The leading cause of indoor allergens is simple "house dust".  It sounds harmless but "house dust" is an airborne mixture that can contain fine particles of soil and plant material from indoor and outdoor locations, particles of human skin, animal dander, hair, fabric, mold spores, dust mites, fragments of insects that have died and their waste, food particles and other debris. And unlike seasonal allergies such as hay fever, indoor allergies may last all year long.  Yuck!  Even if you don't suffer from allergies, who wants to breathe that stuff?

KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN CONTROLLING YOUR ALLERGIES AND ASTHMA

  • Indoor allergies tend to be at their worst in the Springs when pollutants enter the home and in the late summer when dust mites are at their peak.
  • Allergy symptoms can actually get worse in the wintertime because we tend to keep the windows shut and doors closed and people are shut in with the allergens
  • Allergy symptoms an asthma will be aggravated during times of high pollen or mold counts if you sleep with your windows open, allowing allergens to enter your house and settle into your carpets and fabrics.
  • If you have indoor allergies you will continue to suffer as long as you are exposed to allergens

WHAT DOES ALL OF THIS HAVE TO DO WITH MY CARPET?

Your carpet is like a big filter.  It traps all of these allergens and when it gets full it re-distributes them back into the air with every step you take.  If it's been more than 6-12 months since you have had your carpets cleaned, your "filter" (your carpet) is probably full.  Whether or not you suffer from allergies, it's time for me to steam clean those allergens out of your homeso you and your family can breathe easier!  Don't hesitate to call me at 945-7591 and I'll take care of it for you as soon as I can!
